Crystal Lake, IL on Saturday evening, hosting the first of several classes to be offered by the club and range. Eighteen members and guests from across the county attended the class lead by instructors from On Target.
Both Barrels Gun Club was conceived by progressive volunteers who are also firearms enthusiasts dismayed by divisive political rhetoric and avoidable gun accident headlines. The club has an emphasis on responsible firearms ownership through rigorous training programs while promoting positive intrapersonal relationships among the diverse political backgrounds of members.
Club President Michael Tauler remarked, “The class was an outstanding success. It was awesome to see so many people from so many backgrounds come together and agree on two things; 1) the importance of firearm safety and education and 2) putting holes in paper targets is exceptionally fun.”
“It was helpful to have club members there to answer questions along with On Target staff. I really felt more comfortable knowing the people in the lanes next to me and just more confident all around.”
The introductory class was tailored to beginning handgun enthusiasts and others who were interested in receiving professional firearm training for handguns. The course introduced proper handgun safety techniques, discussed the differences between handguns and provided attendees with an understanding of firearm nomenclature and correct shooting fundamentals.
After the classroom session ended, club member put their new skills to use at the range, many for the first time. One member commented on the camaraderie between experienced shooters and first timers, “It was helpful to have club members there to answer questions along with On Target staff. I really felt more comfortable knowing the people in the lanes next to me and just more confident all around.”
